Celebration of Champions 2025

Updated: Feb 16

And we are off! Massimo, Tristyn & the horses loaded up yesterday to head to Fort Worth. Massimo and BOSS qualified for the Limited Open Hackamore competition - a select group of just 30 riders. Boss and Kitty will also compete in the bigger Derby classes with the world's best horses and trainers.

This competition runs from February 15 to March 1 at the famous Will Rogers Memorial Complex in Fort Worth, not far from the famous Fort Worth Stock Yards. That's 28 hours of driving from Calgary, AB or 15 hours from Cottonwood, AZ.

Fort Worth and Dallas have coallesced as cities, with Fort Worth and the Will Rogers centre on the west side of the populated area.

The Will Roger's Centre is a massive facility with an incredible number of stalls, horses, competitors and campers. They host several distinct competitions under the Kalpower Quarter Horses Celebration of Champions banner;

  • the World's Greatest Horseman as the premier event for Bridle horses (over 7 years old).

  • the Tres Osos Derby for 4 and 5 year old horses, both Professional and Non Pro riders

  • the NRCHA World Championship, with classes from Open Bridle, Hackamore, Two Rein, Non Pro, youth and High School Rodeo.

I remember the date because it always gets underway right around Valentines' Day.  I guess trainers and their families must celebrate their love at a different time of year - maybe during muddy season, mid March?

This year's schedule is available online at this link. Schedule

The live feed should be available at this link. LIVE FEED

Be sure to select Kalpower Celebration of Champions for the main show and World's Greatest for that specific event.

Events are held in the Coliseum, the WR Watt Arena and the John Justin Arena. Each will have it's own live feed. On the schedule, you'll see a column for each location and the events that will occur in that location.

If you are onsite, come visit at our stalls in the Moncrief barn. 5075-5114. The Canadian's are mostly stalled in this area, outside the Watt arena. If we're not busy preparing to show, we'll be happy to visit while we wait. Of course, we may be watching the events as well.
