Boss Reserve Champ CSBF.jpeg

2023 was a big year for us, with Massimo Garlanda landing a Futurity Championship and a Futurity Reserve Championship on our 3 year olds, BOSS and Ginger.
We managed to bring Bayywatch home from Texas despite a VS outbreak and let her strut at the last show of the season.
And, Laureen & Merlin made it back to the show pen after an unfortunate unplanned dismount and long concussion recovery.

Here are a few shots from a spectacular year.  Thanks to NARCHC, ARCHA and Wildwood Imagery.

Laura

Goodbye Laura!

We said goodbye to Laura this week.  She is off to explore more of Canada with her family.  This Swiss horse lover was a huge help all summer.  Whether mucking out at home or keeping late nights and early mornings at the shows, Laura was always reliable and had a huge smile.  Thank you so much!  We will miss you.

New Horses

Horse Power!

We added some new faces to the barn this year;  Starting with Bayywatch, a proven cutting champion and prospective brood mare.

We scouted and purchased BOSS, a futurity hopeful and young stallion looking for a new home.

We selected Ginger, a young mare with colour and famous bloodlines.  She was a little behind but had potential to succeed.

ARCHA         Sep 1

August 31 -Sept 3, we attended the Alberta Reined Cow Horse Association Futurity show in Claresholm, AB.  This show is bigger and the competition is at a higher level.  We were more confident that our horses were ready but anything can happen once you are in the ring.

We had another wonderful weekend!  This time Ginger took the Reserve Championship and Boss took high point score for the day.  We are very happy with both of our young horses. They did their jobs and deserve a little rest.

Saskatoon

August 18 -20, we hauled BOSS and Ginger to Saskatoon, SK to test their abilities at the first futurity of the season.  It's always a bit stressful as you put them in the arena and down the fence for the first time at a show.  There's so much that a Reined Cow Horse must learn and be ready to show by the time they are 3!  Of course we had practiced - Thanks to Dan Alliban and Geoff Hoar for coaching us as we prepared.

What a fantastic weekend!  Boss ended up as the Level One Open Futurity Champion and Ginger took the Reserve Championship.
