In the fall of 2021, I received an unsolicited email from a young fellow in Belgium. He said he wanted to come to Canada to work as a horse trainer in the Reined Cow Horse discipline. Did you know they did Cow Horse in Belgium?
​
I agreed to a six week trial. Massimo arrived just before Christmas, very young, determined and with halting English to a frigid Alberta Covid winter. He started working with our horses and it was immediately obvious that he knew what he was doing and had some talent. We invited him to stay for the winter and he's now an integral part of our operation.
Initially, he worked with what we had. Hickory & Star were Alberta raised, three year olds with just the basics. He got them ready and took them to show in the spring.

With some success on these 'average' horses, his solid work ethic and outgoing presence, we started to build our partnership.
​
Massimo helped us select our very successful "Boss" and started preparing for the Futurity circuit. Meanwhile, he continued to work the young horses, help with ranch work and enjoy roping in the evenings. He brought energy, enthusiasm and burning drive to every task.
Since that time, in just a few years, he has made his way in the Alberta and international NRCHA trainer's ranks. As of July 2024 he was ranked #10 in the Limited Open Hackamore NRCHA Standings. As of year end 2024, his earnings have bumped him out of the Level One and Intermediate Limited Open categories.
​
Massimo has added his own "Kitty" to his show group along with some client horses. He always has time to help green riders at the shows and loves to hang out watching great horses perform.
​
A talented and driven young trainer, he has big plans for the future. Push your hat down and sit deep in your saddle. It's bound to be quite a ride!
