Fall has arrived at the ranch

It's been a beautiful fall - after a pretty cool, wet summer. It feels like the great days in August almost made up for the long days of rain in July. We can't complain - we're farmers. If you want crops to grow and hay to be available to feed all winter, we have to celebrate the rain.
The hay crop is looking good, at least in our local area. Prices are still fairly high - for everything! Our yearlings are starting to look like real horses and our foal will soon be ready to wean.

Our cows were later getting to their mountain pastures but should have plenty of good grass to fill up on before they return home.
We have two mares bred for next spring - Bayywatch is bred to Scooter Kat for a February baby and Ginger (Miss Smarthash) is bred to Hendrixx (J.Swales) for April. These should be very nice babies, given their pedigrees.
We had a very successful show season with both Boss (Purdy Bossy), our 5 year old stallion and Luna (Truckin Luna Picasso), our 3 year old futurity mare. Both horses were solid in their show performances from Saskatoon through Claresholm and Kalispell. We are excited to see how they perform at the last two shows of the year - the ASHA show in Ponoka and then the Wild West Futurity in Ponoka in early November. We hope we will see you at the shows, especially the Wild West Futurity, as that is going to be an exciting event.
