Hickory has come a long way.  Purchased in spring of 2023, we were impressed that he learned so quickly and was able to be shown in the 3 year old futurity class by August in Saskatoon.  From there, he has continued to improve.

Hickory has been shown numerous times in cowhorse and cutting,  hauls and stables well at shows.  We've noticed that showing at a high level for a Professional is perhaps not his favourite job.  He prefers just a few less demands placed on his performance.

Lately, we've been using him steadily for turn back in the cutting pen - a fabulous, steady mount in this role.  He also really enjoys ranch work - roping and field doctoring, dragging calves for branding, moving the herd and checking fences.  He is a solid heel horse, practiced with live cattle as well as the dummy behind the quad.

He is still a young horse, not overly stout and probably a bit slower to mature mentally, so he'll need a rider with some experience to provide him with leadership and a feeling of confidence.  In steady, light hands, he will soon be your 'go to' horse for most jobs around the ranch or for a night's roping.
