Shiners In The Bar

Shiner is an easy-minded, ready to go to work, 3 year old. Gently started, at home last summer, he graduated to more sophisticated moves in Arizona this winter. He's well built, agile, athletic and willing to work!

He's a true red dun with a little roaning at the flanks, three white socks, a handsome blaze and loads of mane. He's a very flashy gelding that will be noticed wherever he goes.

Bred by Vonnie & Jonathan Peters, Rocky Mountain House, AB, we acquired this fellow as a young weanling. I wasn't sure his name suited him at the time, but he's all grown up and ready for that drink now!

We would like Shiner to have a performance aspect to his work - some competitive roping or cowhorse showing but he would love some regular ranch work as well. He is well suited physically and mentally to this mix. He's built to grow into a tall and stout horse, suitable for heading, and with his easy-going mind, he should be quiet in the box. We haven't tried him out of the box yet, but he's fine with a rope swinging overhead.

Shiner is standing about 14h1" and still growing. He's in Cottonwood, Arizona at the moment. He's started on all the reining manoevers and has lead departures under his belt. The spin and slide are coming and he's just started on lead changes.

He gets along well in the herd, loads and hauls, has no health or digestive issues of note. He's up to date on dental (fall 2022), vaccines, deworming and hoof care.
